Did you know that our CC&R's require you to obtain Architectural Review Committee (“ARC”) approval before making changes to the exterior of your home? This is an important process to ensure the standards and property values within our community are upheld. The following is a list of several of the improvements requiring approval:
- painting the exterior of your home (unless using same colors)
- removing a tree with a trunk over 6 inches in diameter
- modifying the exterior of your home
- erecting storage sheds
- modifying your front yard landscaping
- making major changes to your backyard (e.g., planting trees, building structures or retaining walls, changing the grade)
- installing awnings
- adding a patio cover
- installing water features or ponds (even in the backyard)
- extending or replacing a patio
- building sport courts, including any lighting
To save time and effort, please note that free-standing flagpoles, in-ground basketball hoops and plastic sheds (i.e. Rubbermaid) will not be approved.
Here are a few improvements that would not require approval:
- general yard maintenance(e.g., replacing existing shrubs with like shrubs, planting annuals, replacing sod, removing small trees under 6 inches in diameter)
- backyard improvements: shrubs, flowerbeds, raised beds, small gardens, pathways, changing lawn area, adding a children’s sandbox or swing set (although play structures do require approval)
- installing and repairing sprinklers

Storage Shed Guidelines:
- Size – maximum footprint 10 ft x 10 ft
- Height – pitched roof only, center peak no taller than 11 ft and in compliance with City setback code
- Materials – must be similar to home (siding, roofing, paint), pre-fab sheds with T-111 siding are allowed, no plastic materials
- All sheds must be in compliance with City code
Patio Cover Guidelines:
- Must have gutter matching the style and color of existing gutters
- Sides are enclosed and tied to house with matching siding and paint
- Patio cover has flat ceiling and posts are fitted with trim boards
Our goal is to process all applications within 15 days, but some will require the full 30 days. Processing time is affected by many factors, several of which are; completeness of application including all required specifications, magnitude of work being requested, availability of required Committee and Board Members, etc.
